5 Tips To Rank Your Video On YouTube (in 2020)

In this blog I will tell you a step-by-step process to rank your videos on YouTube(in 2020).

Almost all creators think of driving millions of views from their YouTube videos. Not just that, they want to become the next YouTube sensation.

However it is easier said than done. Let me tell you why.

  • There are over 500 hours of fresh video content uploaded on YouTube every minute. That works out to be 30,000 hours of new content per hour and 7,20,000 of new content per day. That’s massive!!!
  • And there are over a billion users browsing on YouTube every month.

The Million Dollar question is: How does my video stand out in this Rat Race?

Honestly, I was bogged down when I saw those numbers for the first time. Where will I get the views for my client’s videos?

If you are going through the same dilemma, I have some good news for you.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago when I was working on my client’s YouTube channel.

Well,Not anymore!

Based on my own research, trials and errors I have found out a sure shot process based approach that can help rank your videos on YouTube.

It has worked for my clients and I am sure it will work for you as well.

So let’s jump straight in

#Tip 1

Hook Your Audience In The First 15 seconds

Hook Your Audience In The First 15 seconds

The first 15 seconds of your video are the most critical. This is the time when your viewer decides whether to watch or to drop off from your video.

That’s why it is important to start your video off with a compelling hook.

Tell your viewer right at the beginning what he or she should expect from your video.

OR

You can start your video off with an eye-catching sneak peak moment coming up later in your video.

You can try anything that works best for you in your given video flow and format. The key point is to keep your viewers engaged in the first few seconds of the video.

#Tip 2

Say Your Keyword In The Video

2 Say Your Keyword In The Video

YouTube understands 90–95% of what you say in the video. Even though you put your keywords in the video title, description and tags it won’t work if you don’t say it in the video.

This is an important algorithm that YouTube uses which can either introduce your video to a new audience or will badly impact your video’s ranking.

#Tip 3

Increase Your Watch Time:

Increase Your Watch Time

You need to plan, script and outline your videos. Whether you make vlogs or informative videos, planning your videos can help them perform better on YouTube.

This will result in increased watch time which is a major factor in ranking your video.

It’s no secret that YouTube audiences have a low attention span. That’s why you want your video to flow swiftly from point-to-point.

And unless you’re a natural orator, an unplanned video will be full of fillers(“aahhs”) that can kill your video’s flow and momentum.

#Tip 4

Optimize Your Click Through Rate(CTR)

Optimize Your Click Through Rate(CTR)

Always keep in mind: YouTube is following your audience.

Hence you need to optimize your video for a higher CTR.

Here are a few tips on Optimizing your video:

Optimize your Meta Description:

Make sure your video title is relevant to your video content. Otherwise YouTube’s Algorithm is going to hurt your video’s SEO ranking. It should include your target keywords that are frequently searched on the YouTube Search tab.

Your video description should have atleast 100–200 words. This is your opportunity to let YouTube know what your video is all about. Sprinkle in your Target and Related Keywords in the video description.

Make sure you don’t end up stuffing your keywords in the video description.

This will lower the quality of your description and it goes against the YouTube Algorithm

Focus on engagement:

An Audience Engagement Signal happens whenever a user interacts with a YouTube video. These signals include likes, comments, shares, and subscribes. YouTube uses Audience Engagement Signals as part of their search and discovery algorithm.

Your video’s engagement has a direct correlation with CTR.

No matter how well the video content, title and description matches the viewer query it can only drive your audience to click your video.

However, it is the engagement of your video that will allow YouTube to show your content to a new set of audience. It will also lead to a boost in your video ranking.

#Tip 5

Share Your Video on Quora and other QnA sites

Share Your Video on Quora and other QnA sites:

People visit online communities for 2 main reasons:

  1. To discover fresh content
  2. To resolve their queries

If you use such platforms to answer their questions related to your domain expertise and link them to your videos. This can turn out to be an absolute goldmine!

Undoubtedly, a great way to engage your audience with your videos.

Not only that, it is a great way to distribute your content to a new set of audience.

Conclusion

Conclusion

YouTube isn’t for famous superstars.

You can get traction too.

And it’s not that challenging. If you can create videos that really help people, you will see the views going up.

Most small businesses aren’t on YouTube, which means it’s the ideal platform for small businesses.

Every other business in the world is running Facebook and AdWords ads, and as a result, it’s hard to stand out on those platforms.

YouTube is a different story. It’s surprisingly easy to generate lots of views, especially if you use some of these points I’ve shared with you.

You don’t need a huge budget to start making great videos. You can produce a viral video using just the phone in your pocket and a free video editor.
